PHILLY PHOTO DAY
November, 11th 2010
On October 28th we invited the public to submit photos as part of Philadelphia Photo Day. We received over 350 submissions. Please join us for the opening reception of the Philly Photo Day Exhibition in the Grey Area of the Crane Arts Building (down the hall from PPAC) on Thursday, November 11, from 7:00 – 9:00pm. The exhibition will remain on view until Saturday, November 21, 2010.
The opening reception and party will include the opportunity to enter the PPD raffle and a chance to win gift certificates from local businesses. All the photographs in the exhibition will be for sale for the bargain prices of $10 for a 5″ x 7″ and $20 for a 8.5″ x 11″! There will be a DJ on hand. Mr. Lincoln will be gracing us with his presence.
Philly Photo Day celebrates PPAC’s early success in strengthening the connection between Philadelphians and photography. Through its workshops, exhibitions, artist talks, book signings, critiques and other programs, PPAC has already reached thousands of people. For some, PPAC has provided an introduction to artists about whom they would not have otherwise known, for others it has provided valuable technical training, and for still others it has been access to essential photo-making tools. In all cases, PPAC has improved the understanding that Philadelphians have about images and image making. Philly Photo Day is designed to give the largest number of people the opportunity to consider how they want to represent themselves and their city, and how they can do that through a single photograph.
