She will describe how to market work through print and licensing sales and promote creative talents to secure commissions. Basic branding skills and promotional materials to present oneself and one’s art will be explained, as well as research methods to find appropriate audiences for work. On Saturday, April 30th from 10:00am – 2:00pm MVS will present a seminar, open to the public, titled “Beyond Print: Creative Communication in the Digital Era”. Developing new audiences across the world has never been easier for artists, or more affordable. To communicate effectively, artists must consider who their target audience is, “where” they are (both geographically and within the digital environment), and how to best communicate to them. As artists transition from primarily print pieces into websites and e-communication, can their brand graphics continue to be effective? Mary Virginia Swanson will discuss identifying an audience, the need to communicate in the “space” they live online, and in the most suitable language. Examples of effective print pieces, websites, emails and social network pages will be shared to underscore the value of brand continuity and clarity. This will be a large, information-packed, and fast-paced seminar.

Admission fee is $50 prior to April 30th, $65 at the door and free for PPAC Members.

Visit www.philaphotoarts.org/workshops/ for purchase and RSVP information.

MVS is extending a one-time discounted consultation rate for all PPAC members on Friday, April 29th.  Bookings for Friday should be made directly with Ms. Swanson at mvs@mvswanson.com.  Please email Ms. Swanson before April 22nd to schedule an appointment.
