The Light Room Annual Group Photography Exhibition, 2011 Edition
This August the Light Room, Philadelphia’s only co-op photography organization, returns to Third Street Gallery on Second Street for their annual group exhibition. As the Light Room celebrates ten years of service to the arts, ten photographers will showcase their latest work in a variety of mediums and subject matter.
“This show has something for everyone”, says Al Wachlin Jr, Co-Director of the Light Room and show organizer, “the amount of diversity has really become an asset for this annual show. There is: studio work, street photography, cultural exploration, landscapes, portraits; there is regional work, images from India and Japan, and both coasts from northern most tip of Maine to the deserts of the West; digital, historical, color, black & white, and alternative processes. It amazes me how well everything works together and it was all created by local artists.”
The Ten Photographers in this show are: Glenn Bizewski, Richard Boutwell, Mary Anne Broderick-Pakenham, Ronald Corbin, Annarita Gentile, Ranjoo Prasad, Jesse Pryor, Tom Sheeder Jr, Harvey Stern, and Al Wachlin Jr
The Light Room, Philadelphiaʼs only co-operative darkroom, is dedicated to furthering the knowledge, appreciation and understanding of the photographic arts. Its goal is to foster an environment in which members can achieve their artistic objectives through use of modern, professional darkroom facilities, ongoing education, the sharing of ideas, and exhibition opportunities.
